The Story
“From a certain point onward there is no longer any turning back. That is the point that must be reached.” - Franz Kafka This is just one of the many snippets of Kafka's writing set to music by Hungarian composer György Kurtág as part of a masterful cycle comprising epigrams, fragments, letters and notes by one of the most important and influential writers of the 20th century. With this cycle, Kurtág, himself one of the most significant musical figures of the last century, creates a musical event that is a journey into the depths of the souls of both audience and performers. The concert is part of the Kafka exhibit at the National Library, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death.
